Above-Ground Pool Deck Removal in Clarksville: A Two-Day Job Near the Country Club
We got called out for an above-ground pool deck removal close to Pbody's and the Clarksville Country Club here in Clarksville. Big wooden deck, wrapped all the way around the pool, and it needed to come down and go away. Judah and I loaded up the saws and got to work.

Day One: Cutting In
We started on the outer joists, working both sides of the deck first. Once those were down, we moved to the center supports, one at a time, working our way around the inside. That part of the job is slower than it looks. Every deck like this has its own logic, and you don't really know what you're dealing with until you're a few cuts in.
Judah figured out a faster way to break the deck into sections about halfway through the first day, splitting it into quadrants instead of working it as one big piece. Once he had that pattern down, he was rockin' it. He handled a full section on his own while I was still working through the piece attached to the house, which turned out to be the toughest part of the whole job between the weight, the way it was tied into the structure, and the heat.
Our saw batteries died right on the last cut of the day. Good a time as any to call it. We loaded the trailer with what we'd taken down and got everything positioned to pick right back up in the morning.
Day Two: Heat, Wasps, and the Home Stretch
Day two started where day one left off, and the heat made itself known early. We were making steady progress, but I was taking three times as many breaks as Judah just to stay upright. He was in his element. Add a wasp nest into the mix for good measure, and it was that kind of day.
The last piece was a support beam running along the house. Cut the posts, topple them, break them down. Judah had one thing on his mind by that point, which was getting to the lake to go fishing, so he put everything he had into finishing clean and finishing fast.
By the time we cut the last piece, the deck was fully demoed, hauled, and off the property. Some of the hardware on that thing had clearly been in place a long time, but nothing gave us more trouble than expected. Our cleanup crew came through a couple days after to sweep up and clear out anything left behind, so the property was left looking like there was never a deck there to begin with. Just a missing pool.
