How We Remove and Load Mixed Renovation Debris
Renovation Debris Removal in Oak Grove, KY: A Mid-Renovation Cleanout by Dem Junky Boys
If you're a real estate investor, flipper, landlord, or property manager in the Clarksville and Oak Grove area, this one's for you.
We recently knocked out a renovation debris removal job in Oak Grove, KY for a rental property going through a full renovation. New flooring, new kitchen, new bathrooms. The whole deal. And when you rip all that old stuff out, you need somewhere for it to go. That's where we come in.
What We Removed
This was a post-tenant, mid-renovation situation. The property needed everything from the old life of the house cleared out before the new materials could go in. That meant:
Old flooring and carpeting pulled from throughout the house. Miscellaneous junk piled on the porch. And yes, even the kitchen sink. Literally. We grabbed everything, including the kitchen sink. Let that sink in.
By the time we left, the garage was clean, the porch was clear, and Judah even swept up. The trailer was packed full and strapped down and headed to the dump.
How We Load a Job Like This
Since we were filming, we figured we'd share something most people never think about: how we actually approach loading a trailer when you've got a mixed pile of renovation debris.
Here's our process:
We start by identifying everything that can lay flat (old flooring, sheet material, flat debris). That goes in first, stacked as flat and tight as possible along the bottom of the trailer.
Then everything that can't be flattened — bulk material, irregular pieces, bagged debris — goes on top. The heavier bulk material weighs down the lighter flat stuff underneath, which keeps the load stable and reduces how much strapping we need.
Then we strap over the top and compress it all down.
It sounds simple, but loading a trailer the right way is the difference between a safe, efficient haul and a disaster on the highway. We've dialed this in so that jobs that look overwhelming get knocked out fast without anything shifting in transit.
From Start to Finish
We give status updates throughout our jobs, and this one moved quickly. Within about ten minutes the first pile was gone, the second was half gone, and the bags were clearing out. By the final check, the garage was clean, the porch was clear, and the trailer was packed.
That's how mid-renovation cleanouts go when you've got the right crew on both ends.
